| What is Blended Learning? | |||
| Blended learning refers to combining, previously considered unique delivery systems, to utilize more effective learning systems in your programs. This provides more access and choices for participants and organizations in order to meet the requirements of diverse needs, timelines and audience profiles. In addition, a blended approach can improve overall performance and often reduces costs for organizations. | |||
| What is eLearning? | |||
| eLearning is a general term referring to the entire process of providing distance learning electronically. This includes the courseware, process of learning, and the tools that are required to make the learning happen. While there are many tools available, the most frequently used eLearning methods are: | |||
| • Virtual Classrooms (Synchronous learning): where instructors teach classes live on the web, and participants join the class from their own PC. These often use video-conferencing or web-conferencing tools. | |||
| • Web-Based Training (Asynchronous eLearning): where students complete tutorials, exercises, simulations, etc. on the web. These classes are available 24/7 and there is no live instructor teaching the class. (Live instructors may be available for questions, tutoring or discussions at set times using virtual classrooms, discussion groups, chat rooms, email or other communication tools.) | |||
| • In addition, eLearning can refer to all of the other tools, techniques, processes, platforms, and learning management systems that are used to electronically facilitate eLearning. These include, but are not limited to program listings, scheduling, registration, testing, tracking, reporting, and publishing courses online. | |||
